Modelling Concepts of Open Wet Clutch Flows - A Theoretical Approach

2019
The assumptions of the prevailing open clutch prediction models for drag torque are discussed and set into a fluid dynamic frame of reference. The key findings of these models are formulated with dimensionless parameters in order to compare the models with experimental and numerical data. Hereby a geometry-independent frame for data evaluation and comparison is created. In addition a new approach to model grooves is introduced which takes the concept of hydraulic diameter as a basis.
