An SIC-Based Broadband High-gain Array Antenna Applicable for 5G FR1 Band

An SIC-based broadband high-gain array antenna applicable for 5G FR1 band is proposed. The substrate integrated cavity (SIC) features the advantages of high power capacity, low loss and ease of integration. Therefore, the SIC structure is used to form the feeding network of the proposed array antenna. The array antenna is fabricated and measured. The measurement results which agree with the simulations. The measured −10 dB bandwidth is from 5.02 GHz to 6.53 GHz with an enhanced high gain over 12 dBi within the impedance bandwidth. The array antenna is suitable for 5G FR1 band application. The whole design manifests that the SIC structure shows a great potential to be applied as the feeding network of array antennas.
