Impact of Nepotism on the Human Resources Component of ERP Systems Implementation in Lebanon

2020
The adoption of enterprise resource planning (ERP) system is fundamental for organizational success as a tool to accumulate, store, and protect organizational critical and big data. However, very often, these systems fail for various reasons, and there are many high profile examples of ERP systems implementation. This study gathers evidence on the influence on nepotism, as a component of organizational culture, on the human element of ERP systems implementation success. We conducted our study by surveying 69 small to medium firms in Lebanon. Data was collected using questionnaires. Data analysis adopted variance-based structural equation modelling technique. The results of the study indicate that nepotism significantly impacts the human resources component of ERP systems implementation success. Such systems can be more effectively implemented in firms with an organizational culture that does not nurture nepotism.
