Methyl Formate as a Carbonylating Agent for the Catalytic Conversion of Phenol to Methyl Phenyl Carbonate.

A new protocol for the formation of methyl phenyl carbonate by oxidative carbonylation of phenol with methyl formate is developed, which does not require the use of toxic CO gas.
