Assessment of irradiation hardening by DD simulations

2014
Abstract Understanding of material degradation due to irradiation in structural materials of future reactors is of prime importance for current research as these materials are expected to operate at severe conditions of high temperature and high irradiation doses. The hierarchical multi-scale simulations act as supplement to the costly experiments on irradiated materials. In order to represent the effects of irradiation, the proper inclusion of irradiation defect properties (defect diameter d and density N ) is necessary while passing on the information to higher length scale simulations. In the present paper, it is shown that inclusion of the single defect-cluster-parameter Nd (product of N and d ) is pertinent to proper interpretation of dislocation dynamics simulation results.
