Dynamic Clamp Design for Conical Thread Machining of Drill Bits in Milling Machine Based on Pro/E

2010
According to the structural characteristics of conical thread of drill bits, the 3D model was built with Pro/E to simulate the relative motion between tool and workpiece during process.A dynamic clamp special for the milling machine was designed. In this clamp, the processing style by which the workpiece was installed and clamped at the same time was adopted, with the application of three-jaw self-centering chuck to fit and clamp the workpiece. An adjustable supporting device was designed to limit the bit length.By this support, three bits with difference length could be clamped by a set of clamping apparatus.Combining the rotary motions of the three parts driven by a motor through a reduction gearbox, with the linear motion driven by the worktable, the conical thread processing was achieved. The results show that the application of Pro / E for the design of special dynamic clamp can realize three-dimensional assembly,real-time modification, and shorten the design cycle, decrease the design costs. This special dynamic clamp with a reasonable structure is suitable for the massive production of the wood conical thread bit with various specifications. The loading and unloading of the parts are convenient and the production efficiency is high.
