TRISim: TRIage simulation of a simulation system to exploit and assess triage operation for hospital managers

2016
Triage is a method for determining patient priority to increase the number of survivors. Different triage methods are used in hospitals; these methods are applied after performing an evaluation based on standard methods such as JTAS (Japan Triage Acuity Scale) or ESI (Emergency Severity Index). It is important to consider the characteristics of each hospital when assigning triage methods and emergency levels to hospitals. Hospital managers are in charge of making these decisions. To support hospital managers in employing triage protocols based on their environment, we propose a multi-agent simulation method. We develop a system called TRISim and describe an overview of this system. We also show the preliminary evaluation results.
