TEMPO-SPATIAL VARIATIONS IN STOMATAL CHARACTERISTIC PARAMETERS OF QUERCUS LIAOTUNGENSIS LEAVES

2004
Making use of the Motic Digital Imaging microscope, the stomatal characteristic parameters were observed, and the tempo-spatial variations in stomatal characteristics of Quercus liaotungensis leaves and their variety ranges in different vegetation regions from 1930's to 1980's were studied. The results showed that in time distribution, from 1930's to 1980's, stomatal length and area of Q. liaotungensis in warm temperate deciduous broadleaved forest all ascended, but stomatal width and density all descended. Four parameters of stomatal characteristics in subtropical evergreen broadleaved forest all increased year by year. Except stomatal length, the three stomatal parameters all increased year by year alpine-cold vegetation zone by year on the Tibetan Plateau. In space distribution, in 1930's, stomatal length and area of Q. liaotungensis all ascended, but stomatal width and density all descended in warm temperate deciduous broadleaved forest, subtropical evergreen broadleaved forest and the Tibetan Plateau alpine-cold vegetation region from the north to the south and the southwest in space. In the 1950's, except stomatal density, the differences in other three parameters of stomatal characteristics were not significant in different vegetation regions. Fig 1, Tab 1, Ref 9
