Study on improving concrete resistance to chloride ion penetration with mineral admixture

2008
The influence of single-added fly ash with amount of 20%,40%,60%,single-added slag with content of 20%, 40%,60% and single-added silica fume with content of 5%,10%,15% on performance of concrete resistance to chloride ion penetration is studied by experiments. The result shows that mineral admixture can largely improve concrete resistance to chloride ion penetration, the effect increased along with increased content, the improving ability of silica fume is the best, and then slag, fly ash is the last. The analysis of mechanism of chloride ion penetration in concrete indicates that the pozzolan effect, packing role and original capability of binding the chloride ion of mineral admixture are three important factors for improving performance of concrete resistance to chloride ion penetration.
