The present invention relates to a communication system, which includes according to an exemplary embodiment of a communication network for providing network services to at least one network device and at least one coupled to at least a network backbone distribution point (DP). The at least one network device is located away from the DP and is coupled via the at least one DP with the at least a network backbone. The at least one DP is configured to receive in accordance with one or more communication protocol (s) a plurality of data units from the at least one network backbone. A plurality of data frames each having a header section and a payload section is generated and each of the received data units is in a mapped or more payload of the plurality of data frames. One or more of the plurality of data frame (s) is / are to a payload of at least one data transfer unit (DTU) mapped, which is then communicated to the at least one network device. A corresponding method and a suitable transceivers are described.
