OPTICAL PROPERTIES OF As2S3:Pr AND As2Se3:Dy AMORPHOUS COMPOSITES

2007
New composite materials consisting from arsenic sulphide (As2S3) and arsenic selenide (As2Se3) doped with rare-earth ions (Pr and Dy) and polymers (polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) or polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP)) were prepared and investigated. The optical absorption spectra of thermally evaporated amorphous As2S3 and As2Se3 thin films correlate with the transmission spectra of thick films prepared by chemical methods. For the samples As2S3:Pr/PVA and As2Se3:Dy/PVP an increasing of transparency in the visible region with respect to pure As2S3 and As2Se3 was observed. The investigated new composites are perspective for different photonic devices and sensors for different applications.
