Adaptive Passivity-Based Control for Constant Voltage Output of Series-Paralleled DC-DC Converters

2021
The series-parallel connection of dc-dc converter is an important technique for the improvement in power conversion and the integration of power sources. Passivity-based control (PBC) is proposed as one of the methods for the series-paralleling of dc-dc converters. One of the challenges for PBC is to improve and evaluate its transient performance. In this paper, adaptive passivity-based control (APBC) is introduced for the constant voltage output of the series-paralleled converters. APBC is derived for the buck converter, and its control parameter design is discussed numerically. Then, APBC is shown to be applicable for the series-paralleled converters combined with PBC, maintaining the asymptotic stability and the output voltage. These transient features of APBC can contribute for the stable and cooperative use of converters and power sources. The numerical considerations provided in this paper are based on the actual fabricated dc-dc converters for experiment.
