Aufbau eines bevölkerungsgestützten Monitorings von potentiell infektiösen Vektoren : Projekt MüZe – ein Erfahrungsbericht (Schwerpunkt)

2011
BackgroundProject MuZe embedded in a network of scientists, physicians and public services aims at implementing population-based tick and mosquito monitoring in Northern Hesse. It may help to gain insight into the climate change-dependent distribution of infectious vectors and to evaluate the practicability of epidemiological research performed by non-professional local people.MethodsMuZe participants attracted by local media are trained in the collection and determination of ticks and mosquitos by means of practical courses. Afterwards the vectors are tested for human pathogens in order to develop preventive strategies.ConclusionsOn the strength of past experience it is possible to sensitize people to the infectious risks of the climate change and to establish and stabilize a vector warning and control system.
