Cross-sectional and correlational study, whose objective was to describe the relationship between burden, expressed emotion (EE) and caregiver experience in 14 relatives of schizophrenic patients, selected in a non-probabilistic manner. It was found that more than half have intense burden, average levels of criticism and emotional over involvement, positive care experience medium high and negative low average. The positive subscales of the caregiver’s experience correlated with each other and with the positive dimension, but not with the other scales. The negative subscales of the caregiver’s experience are related to the negative dimension, and among them family consequences were associated with difficult behaviors, problems with services, stigma, need for support, dependence and loss. The negative dimension of care is related to all the variables, the family burden is related to EE and all the negative dimensions of the care experience except with problems with services.
