Quantidade de Células de Purkinje no Cerebelo de Camundongos Sob o Uso de Esteróides Anabolizantes Quantity of Mice Cerebellum Purkinje Cells under Anabolic Steroids Use

2012
Objective. For this reason, the purpose of this study was to investigate quantitative changes in the neurons bodies of Purkinje caused by the use of anabolic steroids. Method. Twelve mice were used and received treatment with steroids (group 1- Deca Durabolin; group 2- Potenay; group 3- Saline) once a week and submitted to swimming three times a week, taking total treatment duration one month. After the sacrifice of animals, the cerebellum were removed, fixed and histological pro cessed. Sections with 5 µm were realized in the cerebellum and modified cresyl violet was used for staining. The slices were analyzed by light microscope and software to count the neurons bodies. Results. The results revealed that the source of variation was not statistically significant (P <0.05) when compared with treated groups. For Po tenay group (4.925) and Deca-Durabolin group (5.14) the average values of Purkinje neuron bodies were equivalent of the control group (4.9275). Conclusion. These data show that there was no variation in density of neurons bodies in cerebellum cortex in mice treated with anabolic steroids compared with control group.
