LAS ACTIVIDADES EN LA NATURALEZA COMO HERRAMIENTA PARA LA MEJORA DE LA AUTOESTIMA ESCOLAR DESDE LA EDUCACIÓN FÍSICA

2018
Objective: to increase the self-esteem of 7th grade students of a public school in Talca-Chile based on a proposal of activities in nature. The conceptions about self-esteem are varied, while some indicate that it is the feeling of one's own value (Haeussler & Milicic, 1995), arias (1999) argues that it is a qualification of oneself. To value yourself or feel loved and kind is another dimension of self-esteem according to Gallegos (2013). The activities in contact with nature (ACN) propose to approach the human being in its totality, the intimate contact with the natural returns the individual to himself allowing self-knowledge and likewise improves the self-concept (Castillo et al., 2015; Castillo y Diaz, 2015). Methodology: descriptive intervention design and longitudinal cut. The population corresponds to the students of a public school of the commune of Talca, of which a sample by convenience of 23 students was selected. The school-tae self-esteem test was used as the main instrument, which was applied at the beginning of the process and the data analysis was performed with descriptive statistics using the SPSS 18.0 software. Results: It is observed that the average score of the TAE increased to 18 points, two points more than that obtained in the pre-test, which indicates an improvement in the result of the TAE. It is observed in the pre-test data that the predominance was normal self-esteem over the low and very low category, which amounted to 22% of the total sample. In the post-test, the tendency of supremacy of the normal self-esteem was maintained. Conclusion: with the application of this intervention proposal and according to the results obtained as a result of the application of the TAE in the pre-test and post-test, a positive change in the self-esteem of the students is observed. Key words: School self-esteem, activities in nature, school.
