WiMAX Adaptive Robust Header Compression Algorithm

2010
The protocol header of transfer protocol framework for WiMAX contains much redundant information, resulting in lower utilization of wireless channel bandwidth. And the too-long packet would increase the bit error rate.In order to reduce the protocol header size in WiMAX network and improve the available bandwidth efficiency of wireless channel, and by integrating ROHC compression algorithm and WiMAX MAC protocol,a new WiMAX adaptive robust compression scheme is proposed.Through analysis on the W-LSB encoding, the implementatiion of adaptive robust header compression algorithm over WiMAX is given.Simulation results show that the 60-bytes header of RTP/UDP/IPv6 could be compressioned to 1~3 bytes;this algorithm could achieve good balance of compression ratio and error-resistant robustness for the adaptive use in wireless links.
