Determinantes Sociales de la Salud (DSS) y discapacidad en el municipio de Tuluá, 2012: resultados desde el registro para la localización y caracterización de personas con discapacidad

2013
Objective: to establish the relationship between the social determinants of health (structural and intermediate) and the components of Disability according to the International Classification of Functioning (CIF) in the Municipality of Tulua (Valle), from the registry for the location and characterization of Disability of the National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE) 2005. Materials and methods: descriptive study with a correlational phase that sought to establish the degree of relationship between the variables of structural and intermediate social determinants of health with respect to the components of disability according to the CIF, the statistical program SPSS was used. Version 19 through a database with 1,368 records of people with disabilities in this Municipality, with data on location, housing, personal identification, characterization and origin of the disability, health, education and participation. Results: when determining the statistical significance of the relationships resulting from the bivariate analysis through the application of non-parametric tests such as Chi square and the coefficient of phi or contingency, the following data were obtained: of the structural social determinants vs. disability such as: area of residence, level of education and ethnic group, did not present statistically significant association, and / or any level of dependency; unlike socioeconomic stratum and gender that presented significant statistical association but the level of dependency is null; while the age variable does present a statistically significant association (x2: 144.4) (p-value = 0.00) and a contingency coefficient (0.31), with a low level of dependence. Regarding the intermediate social determinants vs disability, it can be said that they all show statistical significance, but only the variables: participates in an organization, attitudinal barriers, activity that is being developed in the last six months, their capacity for work has increased. seen affected as a consequence of their disability, monthly income, rehabilitation and recovery factors, they present a weak and moderate level of dependency. And the other variables did not present any type of dependency. Conclusions: The study shows the relationship of significance that occurs between certain social determinants of health (both structural and intermediate), demonstrating the importance of establishing actions that minimize risks and the need to rethink the way to intervene through the different dependencies of the territorial entity and strengthen public policies for the population with disabilities in the Municipality of Tulua.
