Mechanisms underlying the anticancer applications of biosynthesized nanoparticles

2021
Abstract Cancer is a collection of ailments that severely affect the cellular metabolism established due to anomalous signaling mechanisms including cell proliferation, angiogenesis, and metastasis. Biogenic nanoparticles due to their efficacy, cost-effectiveness, and green nature provide an alternate paradigm to cancer theranostics. In this chapter we will discuss the underlying mechanisms via which biogenic metal nanoparticles exert their anticancer action. Foreseeing the challenges, we expect that biogenic metal nanoparticles can be developed as prospective cancer theranostic agents in the near future.
