Great Cause of the Yellow River Should Turn Near-Term Harnessing into Long Period of Stability

The complexity of the Yellow River lies in sediment and the key Yellow River harnessing lies in the issue of scientific understanding.The management and development of the river have achieved great success since the founding of new China.It should work out a long-term(more than hundred years) plan which can exercise overall management,take long period stability as a target and revise and improve it dynamically in implementation.The specific measures include unremittingly carrying out soil and water conservation and gulley treatment for reducing sediment flowing into the Yellow River;building key water control works including Guxian as soon as possible for sediment control and desilting;scientifically regulating water and sediment for forming a better channel of the lower Yellow River and;fully use the means of sand taking,excavation and dredging for solving the issue of sediment balance.
