Design and Implementation of the Microwave Detection System Based on DFB Laser Diode

A novel microwave detection system based on DFB laser diode is designed in this paper. Practical test results show that the dynamic range of the detection system achieves greater than 10 dB in the 2 to 6 GHz frequency range, and the response time is less than 3 ns. To compare with traditional electric output detectors, the detection system employs a DFB laser diode as a tube core, and which can directly output demodulated optical signals through fibers. Therefore, it possesses great applicable prospects in utilizing as a field monitor for high-power microwave (HPM) applications where anti-interference, long-distance transmission without distortion is desired.
