Research on Treating Tannery Wastewater by Using Nanometer-Sized TiO2 Glass Thin Film

2009
Nanometer-sized TiO2 thin films were prepared by sol-gel processing. Photocatalytic degradation of tannery wastewater has been studied by using the TiO2 films as photocatalyst. In the static experiments, by using the low pressure UV as light source, the best condition is that the time of light-catalyzed is 4 hours, initial pH is 6.7 and the volume of H2O2 is 0.3% (v/v). Then, we carried on the dynamic experiment under this condition by using the high pressure UV as light source and found that the removal rate of CODcr reached 85.79% after 40 min of irradiation and the removal rate of Cr6+ reached 84.62% after 110 min of irradiation. Besides, the effect of degradation of tannery wastewater improved by using the Fe3+/ TiO2 thin films.
