Bi-2212/Ag Superconducting Magnet for High-Field Applications

The recent achievements on our development of the W&R type Bi-2212/Ag insert magnets are summarized. We have developed 3-5T class stacked double pancake coils with 129mm outer diameter, 25mm clear bore and 120mm in height. The transport properties of the magnet was tested in various backup magnetic fields up to 18T at Tsukuba Magnet Laboratory of NRIM. The cross-section of the tested coil was observed by a non-destructive method of the high energy X-ray computed tomography (X-ray CT).
