MOBILE TICKETING EXPERIENCE IN HELSINKI

The author, from Plusdial Finland, will present the Plusdial Mobile Ticketing Service and share some experiences from Helsinki, where the service has been running since September 2001 and over 2,000,000 tickets sold at the moment. Plusdial Mobile Ticketing Service allows public transportation passengers to use their mobile phones as personal ticketing machines. By sending an SMS message to a service number the passenger will receive a mobile ticket into his mobile phone, and the ticket fare will be invoiced in conjunction with the phone bill. The author will speak about the service concept, implementation model and results in Helsinki and finally shortly describe how a transport company can establish a Mobile Ticketing service.
