2-(2-Bromo-4,5-dimethoxyphenyl)-2. (dimethylamino)acetonitrile

The regioselective synthesis, spectrometric data ( 1 H and 13 C NMR, and MS) and the X-ray crystal structure determination of the title compound, C 12 H 15 BrN 2 O 2 , are reported. In spite of the presence of a Br atom ortho to the bulky α-ammonitrile group, normal molecular dimensions have been found.
