Comparison of characteristics among newly introduced sugarcane varieties.

The present study was undertaken to test the agronomic and economic traits of 13 newly introduced sugarcane varieties using ROC 22 as the control under the field conditions.The results revealed that the varieties Yuetang 96 / 86,Tai 98 / 0432,C1/ 2003,Yuanlin No.6 performed well in comprehensive agronomic and economic traits study.And these varieties may be extended for commercial scale production.Varieties Funong 15 and Ganzhe 18 were recorded moderate-yield,but these were early maturing with high and stable sugar content and may be used as the parents for breeding varieties with high sugar content.
