Learning and Teaching Through the Arts

Teaching curriculum content through the arts can be highly effective in our pedagogy. What and how do young people learn through the arts, and what supports this learning? Views on this multilayered question enable and circumscribe how teachers integrate the arts into the school curriculum. This chapter explores these questions, and points to the possibilities and challenges of learning through the arts with reference to an interdisciplinary story and arts project undertaken in a culturally and linguistically diverse primary school.
