Optical-thermal fronts under ice cover of Lake Baikal and their connection with the bottom water renewal

This work gives the measurement data of deep-water profiles of transparency and temperature in Lake Baikal in March–April, 2006. The optical-thermal manifestations of vertical exchange between surface and deep waters in the front zones of Baikal during the under-ice period have been considered. Mechanisms of surface water penetration into bottom ones over the period of inverse temperature stratification have been established.
