Turning a potent agent into a registered product

2017
In Section D, we spent many pages describing the steps involved in the consideration of synthesizing and selecting a pharmacologically active agent that might be an effective new drug. In this section of the book, we provide an overview of the steps involved in moving the active pharmaceutical agent from the laboratory to the manufacturing plant and ultimately, onto the market. This chapter describes possible career options in this “phase” of the process and introduces the regulatory and economic considerations of turning a potent agent into a registered product.
