A numerical investigation on the effects of air conditioner’s position on temperature and velocity distribution of a room

2021
Proper temperature and velocity distribution of air within a room is very important for human comfort. In this work, a numerical investigation was done to see the effect on temperature and velocity distribution inside the room with changing AC position vertically. By using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) it is possible to compare optional ways of air supply for maintaining comfort. For an effective and efficient design of air-conditioned room, it is very important to determine the optimum position of air conditioner unit. For this investigation a CFD model of a room with no heat load has been simulated using ANSYS Fluent for three vertical positions of air-conditioner… The three heights were 1.5 meter, 2 meter and 2.6 meter. For all the positions temperature and air velocity distribution was observed. The result shows that the top position (2.6m) of the air conditioning unit in a room is the most comfortable for thermal comfort.
