This is the second report of the Basque Rarity Committee, relative to the accreditation of observations of rare birds found in the Basque Autonomous Region in 2018. This Committee, created under the auspices of the Basque Ornithological Committee, aims to collect, study and publish observations of all those species which have an accidental orirregular presence in the Basque Country. Overall, 148 observations were reviewed in 2018,in addition to others from 2017 that remained to be evaluated. Of these, 100 observationswere accredited (relative to 35 species), 48 were rejected, 18 were assigned to a D category,6 were assigned to an E category, and 4 remained to be evaluated. Two species have been removed from the list: the red-rumped swallow Cecropis daurica (its reproductionhas been consolidated within the region), and the glossy ibis Plegadis falcinellus (this hasbecome a frequently observed bird). Since 2018, four new species are added to the list:Mediterranean shearwater Puffinus yelkouan, purple swamphen Porphyrio porphyrio,sacred ibis Threskiornis aethiopicus and boreal owl Aegolius funereus.
