Role of Biochar in Heavy Metal Toxicity in Plants

2020
Biochar applications are attracting reasonable attention all over the world because they offer economic feasibility and environmental sustainability solutions. Furthermore, biochar consists of large surface area and cation-exchange capacity which facilitate sorption of both organic and inorganic contaminants, and thus possibly help in the reduction of various organic and inorganic pollutants as well as heavy metal mobility and increase of bioavailability/biodegradability. The functions of biochar are diverse while biochar properties totally depend upon the type of feedstock used and production technology.
