APPLICATION OFTHEMETHOD OFCHARGE SIMULATION OFTHE STUDY OFELECTRICAL STRESSES INTHREE-CORE CABLES

A simplemethod based on chargesimulationtechniqueis used to represent3-corebelted cables. Each conductoris replacedby a line chargeplaced at a certaineccentricityfrom the conductor center, and the sheathis replacedby correspondingimagesof the line charges. The value of eccentricitywhich resultedin the closestrepresentationof the three-corecablewas determinedwith the aid of a digitalcomputer. The paper also describesan electrolytic tank experimentdevisedto verify the validityof the charge simulationmethod. Excellentagreementbetweencomputational and experimentalresultswas obtained.
