1994 – « Oral Participation: A Question of Motivation? »

2021
The teaching of ESP can be helped greatly by judicious use of sources of motivation which push the individual student to greater efforts in the learning of a foreign language. This article explores some of the psychological investigations into human motivation, based on cognitive theories and then attempts, using group dynamics, to put this knowledge to use in the classroom situation. Students are provided with a fixed objective, in the form of a pluridisiciplinary ECLANE (foreign language case study), in an attempt to increase active oral participation and to improve the level of acquisition of English for Specific Purposes.
