Comparative Study of some Control Techniques Applied to Three-Phase PFC Rectifiers

2021
Electronic power converters constitute a very important pollution source of electricity supply networks, which has a unwanted negative effect on the quality of electricity and the efficiency of power systems. In order to identify the means of improving the degree of pollution produced by these electronic power systems it is necessary to study, model and simulate various configurations of static power converters. This paper focuses on Matlab//Simulink modeling and simulation of power factor control techniques used in three-phase PWM power rectifiers. The aim of the paper is to accomplish a study of the PWM control technique in a three-phase stationary reference and to compare that to the PWM technique in a two-phase synchronous reference frame rotating with electrical speed, both for three phase rectifiers with active PFC systems. The comparison criteria consist in the value of the power factor PF, the harmonic content of the absorbed current THD and the energy efficiency of the studied configurations.
