La sedimentación de plataforma externa en el Cretácico Inferior de Oliva (Valencia)
2001
An outer shelf sedimentation (near the basal wave level), characterizes the Prebetic of Alicante in
Oliva (South of Valencia) from the base of the upper Valanginian to the lower part of the upper
Barremian. In these monotonous lutitic sediments, by its mineralogie, type of sequences o f fossil
content sediments, seven different lithologic units can be distinguished. The age has been
determined by Ammonites, and two important sedimentary discontinuities are recognized. The
beginning of the sedimentation is the "middle-Valanginian" drowning with an evolution towards
the outer shelf. After a stage of low sedimentary rate of with abundant glauconite, it ends with a
shallowing upward tendency.
