Raymond Williams: pasado y presente del materialismo cultural

The article reviews the intellectual trajectory of Raymond Williams focusing on the relationship between culture and ecology. With this objective, it considers the originality of his work in the context of the new materialist approaches that emerged from the 1950s in areas such as anthropology or the New Left. This historical review allows for the addressing of the nature / culture binomial under discussion with some more recent theories, as well as highlighting the relevance of Williams´ cultural materialism when it comes to imagining art as a form of organization of sensitive experience that meets the challenges of the ecosocial crisis in progress.
