MATERIAL MOTION CORRECTIONS FOR IMPLICIT MONTE CARLO RADIATION TRANSPORT

2011
We describe changes to the Implicit Monte Carlo (IMC) algorithm to include the eects of material motion. These changes assume that the problem can be embedded in a global Lorentz frame. We also assume that the material in each zone can be characterized by a single velocity. With this approximation, we show how to make IMC Lorentz invariant, so that the material motion corrections are correct to all orders of v/c. We develop thermal emission and face sources in moving material and discuss the coupling of IMC to the nonrelativistic hydrodynamics equations via operator splitting. We discuss the eect of this coupling on the value of the "Fleck factor" in IMC.
