A nano-label SERS wavelength selective wave comprising: a core SERS enhancement; an active reporter molecule in SERS associated with the core; an encapsulant encapsulating the nucleus and reporter association; and either: 1) blocking material associated with the encapsulant which blocks wholly or partially the passage of light energy at a wavelength selected to the reporter molecule, or total blocking or partially radiation light energy at a selected wavelength from the reporter, or 2 molecule) a masking material associated with the encapsulant fully or partially masking light energy irradiated at a wavelength selected from the reporter molecule.
