La industria porcina en Yucatán:un análisis de la generación de aguas residuales

2009
Hog raising has become one of the most important activities in the state of Yucatan, leading to the rapid growth of the swine population. The region's natural characteristics make it very vulnerable to wastewater discharges, which, along with the growth in the number of animals in the state, aggravate pollution-related problems, especially in the water table. Hence, this article studies the structure of the hog sector with regard to wastewater generation, the importance of the appropriate management of water use on hog farms, and the factors that influence the amount of the wastewater generated.
