Management- und Entscheidungsunterstützung in Organisationen: zwischen Technik und Interaktion

2008
Decisions in organizations as well as the possibilities and practices of their support constitute an important and complex topic of research. On the one hand, the research on decision support focuses on the technical perspectives of computer-based information systems or computer-aided modelling; on the other hand, the practices of decision support can be analyzed from the view of organizational theory emphasizing the influences of social interaction processes in organizations. By focusing on those influences, the paper works out some central characteristics of managerial decisions and related practices of their support. Thereby, it becomes obvious that organization theory widely turns away from classical models of rational decision making, thus, opening space for the consideration of more complex and dynamic phenomena of organizational decision support. Finally, clues are given for some similar tendencies in computer-aided modelling.
