Distortions of Parallel Flow in Continuous Flow Electrophoresis
1992
Fluid dynamics of continuous flow electrophoresis is studied on the basis of the Navier-Stokes equations averaged over a transverse coordinate. Development of a parallel flow at the entrance ot the electrophoretic chamber is discussed for the case of zero-g conditions and the case of a body force exerted on the fluid. The instability of the fluid flow in the chamber related to the non-uniformity of the fluid viscosity is evaluated analytically.
