Enhanced Breakdown Strength of BN/ER by the 2D Ordinal Tiled Structure of Fillers

The objective of this paper is to propose constructing a 2D ordinal fillers structure to improve the breakdown strength of BN/ER. By loading ferrite on the fillers and applying a rotating magnetic field during curing process, epoxy composites with tiled structure of plate-type BN are obtained. Considering the side effect of ferrite on the insulation properties, its minimum load under the premise of implementing the tiled structure is determined, accordingly the composite materials with breakdown strength about 30% higher than that of traditional BN/ER is obtained. Furthermore, the technological parameters of magnetic treatment is analyzed quantitatively, and a meso-scopic finite element model of BN/ER is built to further discuss the enhancing mechanism of breakdown strength brought by the filler tiled structure.
