A new population of neurons with crossed axons in the lamprey spinal cord

Abstract Neurons with contralateral, rostrally and caudally projecting axons were studied in whole of lamprey spinal cord using retograde labelling techniques with fluorescent dextran-amines, cobalt-lysine or horseradish peroxidase. A previously unknown large population (180–300 cells per hemisegment) of small (
