Modelling and experimental validation of electrical characterisations of high speed flux reversal generator

2020
This paper makes an attempt to provide a comprehensive documentation of characterisation of high speed flux reversal generators (FRG). At first, a conventional design of FRG is proposed for high speed application. Then for this machine, keeping the minimisation of cogging torque as the major constraint, the design dimensions are fine tuned. A thorough static characterisation and dynamic characterisation on the finalised dimensions are presented. Finite element analysis is used for this purpose. Validation of the above characterisations has been made through an experimental setup. As magnetic material play an important part in the stator-rotor construction of high speed FRG, it is viewed that a novel soft magnetic material can enhance the performance of this machine. To this effort, a novel soft magnetic material called cobalt-iron (Hiperco 50A) is proposed whose analyses are also documented in this paper. As a whole, this paper can serve the purpose of a detailed electrical characterisation of FRG, which forms the contribution of this paper.
