Morphological Variation Analysis of Four Different Natural Populations of Hemifusus tuba Gmelin in China

2010
By applying multi-variant morphological measurement data,we used 7 morphological proportional characters to analyze the morphological variations from four different natural populations of Hemifusus tuba Gmelin, which were respectively located in Beihai,Wenzhou,Zhanjiang and Lianyungang. From cluster and principal component analyses, morphological characters were rather similar between Beihai and Zhanjiang populations, whereas high variance was found between Wenzhou and Lianyungang populations.Four principal components were constructed, the contributory ratio, from high to low,was 42.74%,18.23%,15.83% and 11.83%,respectively,with 88.63% as the cumulative contributory ratio. The discriminant functions of the four populations were established, the discriminant accuracy being 81.3%~95.6% for P1 and 75.0%~93.3% for P2,the average discriminant accuracy being 87.3%.The results of multivariation analysis indicated that there were some morphological differences in the four different geographical populations, which were related to geographical distribution, environment, climate, food, and so on.But the morphological variation of them was characterized under-subspecies.
