Reliability of microelectronic components is a critical factor in achieving h igh reliability in electronic systems. This paper points out the importance of the involvement of the design and manufacturing team in achieving reliability of microelectronic devices. A method of verifying reliability goals through calculation of failure rates based on life test parameters is described. This paper points out the importance of a team approach to achieving reliability goals. Members of the design and manufacturing organization must have knowledge of reliability engineering to deal with issues that affect reliability o f microelectronic devices. To this end, this paper focuses on the process of achieving and verifying reliability of modern microelectronic devices.
