Application of the developed method for estimating xerosis of the conjunctiva and cornea, based on an objective computer morphometric analysis of photographs of the ocular surface and its accuracy and specifi city are not inferior to traditional (Bijsterveld, 1969; in points 9-point scale, including subjective quantitative accounting of the coloration of the three fi elds of the ocular surface) and allows to conduct research in the automatic mode, which eliminates the methodological challenges traditional approaches associated with subjective account of pathomorphic signs and allows objectively evaluate the metric xerosis; identify conjunctival microcirculation disturbances in ischemic, and, therefore, to judge the presence of chronic ischemia incremental tear production glands; signifi cantly reduce the time required to calculate the indicator of xerosis; to increase the reproducibility of the results of the study; the high technical level of the archive data of the research; simplify the accounting pathomorphic signs and with high accuracy and specifi city diagnose dry eye syndrome. One developed method optimizes the objective control of the effectiveness and safety of therapeutic effects on the stages of therapy dry eye syndrome, and monitoring of condition of the tissues of the eye surface dynamics.
