Adsorsão do traçador fluorescente uranina em sedimentos quaternários da Bacia de São Paulo

The main objective of this work was to determine the retardation coefficient of the fluorescent tracer ( uranine ) in the unconfined aqifer at Parque Ecologico do Tiete (Sao Paulo, SP), and determine the partition coefficient using batch-test. The sediments were collected by manual drilling in quaternary aluvionar deposits of Sao Paulo’s basin. The experiments consisted in mixing sediments and water with uranine (concentration from 10 to 150 mg/L) at pH 5, similar to that observed in area, measuring initial and final tracer concentrations after 30’ manual agitation. Retardation factor of 30.76 ± 0.08 (sand) e 32.98 ± 0.01 (clay) were obtained and attributed to the presence of oxides and hydroxides of iron and aluminum disseminated in the sediment.
