Resultados de la revascularizaciÓn de miembros inferiores en el paciente arteriosclerÓtico joven

2002
Summary Aims The most significant recent series on revascularization of the lower limbs in young adults are reviewed. Development The series that have been published are analysed from the methodological point of view and by examining the results, according to clinical presentation (claudication as opposedto critical ischemia) and the sector which under went the intervention. The papers published, most of which are retrospective series, do not match the commonly accepted standards of publication and this means the information available is even more limited. Nevertheless, the results of revascularization in this population (eventually asymptomatic patients, reintervention, amputation and death rates) appear to be well below those obtained in the population as a whole. Conclusions. Revascularization techniques shouldbe appliedon a very restricted basis in the case of young adults who are carriers of intermittent claudication.
